Acorn Hill Farmstead Cheese

After years of talking with folks at farmer's markets it has become clear that there is an interest not only in buying our cheeses but in learning about how they are made. With that in mind we are working on putting together workshops to be held in our cheeseroom that will demonstrate the basics of cheesemaking. These workshops will leave participants with a basic knowledge of cheesemaking that they can take home to their kitchen and start producing wholesome homemade dairy products for their families.

Our Winter 2011-2012 internship has been filled but we are talking with candidates for the spring through fall 2012 season (we are looking for two interns for May - November 2012). In addition we are willing to work with one or two additional interns who live locally.

We have comfortable housing for live in interns who are willing to make at least a four month commitment but we prefer a full six month (or more) season commitment. We are willing to take on interns who are eager to learn, are physically strong (we lift 50lbs regularly), don't mind getting dirty, and have a genuine love of/interest in goat husbandry and/or cheesemaking and marketing. We do ask that you are able to commit to several months of working together so that we both can benefit from the time and energy put into our relationship. Live-out internship is available for those who live in this area or will be in the area with their own living accomodations and can commit to a regular schedule on the farm.
